    Biography

Dr. Baker is Professor in Residence, Step II in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She spends her time on a combination of research, clinical work, teaching, administrative and professional activities, primarily at the San Diego VA Health System (VASDHS) and at UCSD. At the VA she serves as Director of Research and Neuroscience Unit. In addition she is a teaching attending in the Anxiety Disorders Unit. Her academic focus is on various aspects of stress and mental health, particularly Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI). Within this focus, her clinical and research interests and activities are relatively broad, and include current and planned projects in neuroscience, specifically the neurobiology, and treatment of PTSD and mTBI and co-occurring mental and physical disorders, e.g. metabolic and immune-related disorders. Currently funded projects include 1) Marine Resiliency Study-II (MRS-II), a prospective study of risk and resilience factors for PTSD and other mental and physical outcomes in active duty Marines and 2) A VA-funded MERIT with Dr. Mingxiong Huang, PI (Department of Radiology) focused on the development and validation of a sensitive and objective imaging method, e.g.Magnetoencephalograpy (MEG) to visualize and diagnose PTSD and mTBI, and 3) as a site investigator of multi-site VA-funded clinical trial for treatment of PTSD (Mifepristone).

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication.
