I am a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego. My research interests include pregnancy and early childhood psychosocial determinants of mental health and cognition. To these ends, I am to examine the stress and inflammatory biomarkers associated with maternal stress and depression, their interaction with genetic factors, and the mediating role of the placenta. I am also interested in the relation between the interaction between maternal depression and stress in the prenatal and postpartum periods on childhood neurodevelopment.

I was awarded a TL1 postdoctoral fellowship for this work, and am also a postdoctoral fellow on the UC San Francisco Benioff Preterm Birth Initiative, characterizing prenatal maternal stress and depression and the associated biomarkers on the risk of preterm birth.
