Dr. Ilona Barash completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington before moving to UCSD for both her MD and PhD in Biomedical Sciences studying skeletal muscle physiology. She then completed her Residency in Emergency Medicine in 2011, during which she served as Chief Resident and was voted Resident of the Year. After taking a year to travel and climb, she completed a Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at UCSD. She currently works both in the Emergency Department and at UCSD Student Health Services doing sports medicine. Her academic interests include endurance medicine, altitude physiology, and the interface between sports and emergency medicine. She also enjoys running, rock climbing and mountaineering, curling up with hot chocolate and a good movie, and spending time with her son, husband, and two cats.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
