Dr. Vahid Rasouli Disfani has been a postdoctoral scholar in Dr. Kleissl’s Center of Renewable Resource Integration (CRRI) at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) since August 2015, after he earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of South Florida. He has consolidated research background in leading fundamental and applied research projects, advising graduate students at UC San Diego, and leading six proposal efforts to California Energy Commission and U.S. Department of Energy as well as extensive teaching experience in power systems and power electronics.

During his postdoctoral experience, Dr. Disfani's research has been focused on grid integration of distributed energy resources (DER) including renewable energy systems from both technical and economic aspects. He has led several tasks of various research projects funded by California Energy Commission (CEC) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for a total of $6.8M since August 2015. Through these projects, he has essentially run his own research lab by being the principal technical advisor of five Ph.D. students with Dr. Jan Kleissl at UC San Diego, developing ideas, guiding students in the execution, drafting papers, and writing proposals and reports to funding agencies.

Dr. Disfani's recent teaching experience culminated in course development and teaching power systems and power electronics materials to Ph.D. and master students from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC San Diego through 30 lectures. He also served as co-instructor, guest lecturer, teaching assistant and lab instructor in a wide range of electrical engineering courses during his Ph.D. study at University of South Florida in 2012-2015, and developed and taught several power courses at Iran Azad University in 2009-2012. Besides, he has served as an active reviewer for top-tier journals such as IEEE Transactions and Elsevier journals since 2014.
