    Dr. Armenta has his PhD in Epidemiology from the Joint Doctoral Program in Public Health between UC San Diego and San Diego State University, a MPH in Epidemiology and an MA in Latin American Studies from San Diego State University.

    Dr. Armenta is currently an Epidemiologist at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) where he works on the Millennium Cohort Study, the largest longitudinal study of military population health. His research there focuses on mental and physical health among military service members. Aside from his work at the NHRC, Dr. Armenta conducts research on health disparities among Hispanic and Native American communities. His research focuses on substance abuse and disease transmission prevention for HIV and STI’s. Additionally, Dr. Armenta serves as the Research Director for the California Native American Research Centers for Health Student Development Program, where he mentors Native American students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He teaches FPMU40 and serves on the BSPH steering committee.
