      Mary L. Hilfiker, Ph.D., M.D., MMM is board certified in general surgery and pediatric surgery. She has a Ph.D. in Zoology (in Cell Biology and Immunology) from the University of Maryland, did postdoctoral work at the NIH and then received her M.D. from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Her general surgery training was at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and pediatric surgery training at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo in New York. She has been practicing pediatric surgery in San Diego since 1995. She completed a Masters in Medical Management from the Marshall School of Business at USC in 2009.

      Dr. Hilfiker is the Division Chief for Pediatric Surgery in RCSSD and the Trauma Medical Director at RCHSD. She actively practices pediatric surgery and cares for newborns to young adults. Pediatric Surgeons care for all types of surgical problems in this age group including oncologic, abdominal, thoracic, neonatal and traumatic.

      Patients are seen by appointment at 8010 Frost Street which is a bilingual office.
