Dr. Loeliger is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and received her M.D. from the Yale School of Medicine and Ph.D. from the Yale School of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology. She graduated from Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of California, San Francisco in 2023, and is currently a Complex Family Planning Fellow at the University of California, San Diego. Her goals in research and advocacy include addressing social determinants of health and the overlap between reproductive injustice, gender-diverse healthcare, substance use disorders, incarceration, mental health, and interpersonal violence and trauma. Specifically, her primary fellowship project seeks to better understand the impact of contraception use on gender dysphoria in gender-diverse individuals. Additional research projects include the implementation of an updated opioid use disorder screening and treatment protocol for pregnant patients as well as the study of changing abortion access patterns in the Southeastern USA since the passage of Dobbs.
