My research interests lie mainly in studying the biological and chemical interactions among the complex bacteria-bacteria and bacteria-host interactions, by integrating microbiome and metabolome. Particularly, exploring the genetic capacity of the human microbiome (gut and oral bacteria) to discover specialized molecules in health and disease, and their interactions with human G-protein-coupled receptors, to understand potential mechanistic links of host-microbial interactions.

Probing the Gut-Brain Axis in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder through connecting Brain Structure, Microbiome and Neuroactive Molecules
The Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind Innovative Research Grant Sep 1, 2020
    Role: Principal Investigator
Role Description: Specific aims of this study are to study the interactions between gut bacteria, bacterial neuroactive molecules, and features of brain structure in gut-brain connection. This will provide mechanistic evidence for the brain-microbiome associations and form a basis for the development of microbial-based therapies to promote mental health

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
