    I joined the University of California, San Diego in the Owen Clinic in 2007, having completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases and a Master in Advanced Studies. During this time I have dedicated my professional time as a clinical teacher whose scholarly portfolio emphasized the management of HIV and its associated co-morbidities.

    The American Malignancy Consortium certified me for performing High-Resolution Anoscopies for the screening of anal dysplasia and also Infrared Coagulation (IRC) treatment procedures. Since 2011, I have led the Anal HPV dysplasia Screening Program at UCSD.
    I founded the first Hepatitis C Co-Infection Clinic in the USA in 2008 using an HIV Primary Care model co-managed by our Clinical Pharmacist to improve the barriers to care of HCV co-infected patients faced an unacceptably low HCV treatment rates in our patients. Our HCV multidisciplinary model of care received recognition by the Health Resources & Services Administration in 2011 and has been replicated throughout the country ever since.

    I am a site co-investigator of The CFAR Network of Integrated Clinical Systems (CNICS) and NA-ACCORD which are electronic medical records-based networks poised to integrate clinical data from large and diverse populations to conduct significant research that benefits our patients. I have expanded our international collaborations establishing clinical, teaching and research collaboration with academic Institutions in Spain. My cultural competency and fluency in Spanish served to created strong partnerships and long-lasting friendships in particular with the University of Vigo and La Coruña.

    I aspire to continue serving my patients and community taking new challenges in my career and tackle Clinical and Public Health Challenges that require leadership, curiosity, innovation, and teamwork. I believe that my scholar formation, managing, and research experience provide me the tools to contribute to this service mission.
