    Dr. Christanne Hoffman Coffey grew up in South Carolina and obtained her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at UC San Diego, during which time she served as Chief Resident. After residency, she became the inaugural fellow in Wilderness Medicine at UC San Diego. She is the Director of the Wilderness Medicine Fellowship and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at UC San Diego. Christanne is the chair of the School of Medicine Student Affairs Committee and Co-chair of Women in Health Sciences. She is a Physician Peer Supporter and serves on the Department of Emergency Medicine Wellness Committee. Christanne is a member of the Board of Directors of the Wilderness Medical Society and serves as the director of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine. She is the past-chair of the Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine Committee. She also serves as the medical director for the San Diego Mountain Rescue Team. Her interests include wilderness medicine education, marine envenomations, diving medicine and aquatic injuries. Her passion is keeping people healthy and connected to nature.
