Professor in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Psychology at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS). Ph.D. in Psychology from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship and served as a Visiting Scholar in Public Health and Mental Health at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) (20252026), where he develops activities in Public Mental Health and Global Health. Currently serves as President for Latin America (Global Vice President for Latin America) of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH). He is the leader of the Health Psychology Research Group (GEPPS/UFS) and a senior collaborator of the Global Burden of Disease Study (IHME). His scientific work covers topics such as public and mental health, chronic diseases, suicide and self-harm, psychological adjustment, and common mental disorders, with a focus on developing low-cost and highly scalable resources for basic psychological care based on the principles of precision health psychology. He is a member of several national and international scientific associations, including the WFMH, the American Psychological Association (APA, Div. 38), the Interamerican Society of Psychology (SIP), and the Brazilian Society of Psychology (SBP). He also serves as a member and mentor of the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS), the Brazilian Society of Psychology (SBP), and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS).
