    Biography

Dr. Bailer received her MD from the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Germany and from the University of Vienna, Austria, and completed her Psychiatry Residency at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria and an Erwin Schrödinger Research fellowship funded by the Austrian Science Fund at the University of Pittsburgh with a focus on brain imaging in eating disorders. Dr. Bailer is board certified in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine (with a specialization in cognitive behavioral therapy). She has been an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, since 2005 and has been the Director of the Outpatient clinic for Eating Disorders and Eating Disorder Research Program at the Medical University of Vienna, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Division of Biological Psychiatry since 2006. Dr. Bailer joined the UC San Diego faculty as a Visiting Associate Professor in 2009 and is an Assistant Professor since 2011; she is co-Principal Investigator on research awards from the NIMH to study neurotransmitter function in eating disorders using positron emission tomography and pharmacological challenges and serves as faculty in the UCSD Eating Disorder Center for Treatment and Research.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
