Overview

After completing her Ph.D., Dr. Kim worked as a scientific officer for 7 years in the Medical Device Safety Bureau at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in Korea. She then accepted a post-doc fellowship in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University and was recruited to join the Department of Radiation Oncology at UC San Diego in 2009.

She currently serves as a reviewer for the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), Exam developer on the American Board of Radiology (ABR), and Physics committee member on the Radiosurgery Society. For the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), she is a chair of the Work Group on Prevention of Errors in Radiation Oncology and Task Group 379 – Technical guidelines for Total Body Irradiation, Total Marrow Irradiation, and Total Lymphoid Irradiation. Also a member of the Calibration Laboratory Accreditation Executive Committee and Therapy Physics Committee, Quality Assurance and Outcome Improvement Subcommittee, International Council, Task Group 292, and a vice-chair of the Global Data and information exchange committee.

Dr. Kim serves as the Senior Associate Division Director for Clinical Physics Operations and Technical Chief for Central Nervous System (CNS) and her primary research focuses on implementing novel treatment techniques, patient safety, and improvements in intracranial radiosurgery procedures.
