    Dr. Fraidoon Mostamand was born in Afghanistan and moved to Germany when he was 14 years old. He left the country because of a Russian invasion. Dr. Mostamand lived in Germany and learned how to speak German over the course of 2 years. He then moved to Los Angles when he was 16 years old and learned English by attending ESL night classes at Hollywood High school. He then attended Cypress Community College for one year in 1983 before transferring to University of California, Irvine. He majored in Biology and finished College in 1988. He continued on to medical school at Western University in Pomona, CA. For a year before medical school he lived in Hawaii and learned how to windsurf which became a favorite hobby for many years. Dr. Mostamand went to Chicago to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine at Midwestern University from 1993-1997. Finally, he came to San Diego and started working at Mission Bay hospital in July of 1997 until 2001 and has been working at UCSD since January of 2001. One of his greatest passions is the ocean and enjoys most of the available summer days at the beach with his two daughters who are 10 and 12 years old.
