      Biography
Dr. Palmer received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1992, and completed a clinical-research fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Neuropsychiatric Institute and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 1992 through 1994. He subsequently completed an additional research fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego), prior to joining the UC San Diego faculty in 1997.
      Research Interests
Dr. Palmer’s primary research interests include applying empirical methods to inform bioethical discussions (such as empirical studies of capacity to consent to research and methods to improve/optimize the consent process). He has also an active interest in aging among people with PTSD, and neuropsychological aspects of late-life schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric conditions
      Clinical Focus
Dr. Palmer is a licensed clinical psychologist.
