    Kristy (Putnam) Schwartz, MD, MPH obtained her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, masters in public health from Columbia University, and medical degree at Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. She completed emergency medicine residency at Maricopa Medical Center (now Creighton University Phoenix) prior to pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at University of California San Diego. She is board-certified in both emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine, a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine, and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians Pediatric Emergency Medicine Committee. She is an assistant program director for the UCSD Emergency Medicine residency.

    Dr. Schwartz completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship in 2018, for which she was a UCSD Physician Development Fund award recipient. She has developed and implemented innovative curricula for pediatric emergency medicine fellowship board review, Essential Pediatric Emergency Medicine for emergency medicine residents, and emergency medicine intern orientation. She is actively involved in medical education conference planning, including the annual California ACEP AdvancED conference and Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors MedTech track.

    Dr. Schwartz's research interests include pediatric emergency medicine and medical education, specifically gamification and FOAMed. She recently entered the realm of podcasting, discussing clinical care and medical student applications to EM. She is a regular contributor to EMDOCs.net and a reviewer for the Journal of Emergency Medicine.

    In her spare time, she enjoys water sports, hiking, off-the-map travel, and spending time with her husband, who is also an emergency medicine physician, and their 125 pound dog, Gus.
